Seattle’s largest and longest running festival, the Bumbershoot Festival, takes places this weekend on Sat, Sun, and Mon at Seattle Center. The word “bumbershoot” is a colloquial term for umbrella. The festival serves as an umbrella for the variety of arts performed there – music, visual, literary, dance, comedy, and theater. Among the national music acts this year are Hall and Oates, Urge Overkill, and Grant Lee Buffalo. Most of the acts are local, and among them this year are Shabazz Palaces, Truckasaurus, Mad Rad, and the Presidents. Tickets and full line-up of performers and events at www.bumbershoot.org. Advance tickets are $35/day. This weekend will be 75 and sunny in Seattle. Leave your bumbershoot at home and head down to the festival.
